What's hiding under your sink?

Reasons 4 Concern:

Whats Hiding Under Your Sink?

Each year, over 1 million children are accidentally poisoned in their homes. 250,000 of these victims are hospitalized; 3,000 children will end up in intensive care; dozens more will die. Thousands of children and adults are permanently disfigured or injured through contact with chemicals in the home, each year.

Incredibly, the most common substance to poison children is household cleaners. Many of these products are considered safe! Think of your own home - you probably have dozens of bottles of cleaners, containing hundreds of chemicals. Could an accident happen in your home? Check off the products you use in your home and evaluate your risks. According to Poison Control, dishwashing detergent accounts for more accidental poisonings than any other household substance. Dandruff shampoo, if swallowed, causes vital organs to degenerate. Household ammonia, when mixed with bleach is a deadly substance.

Accidental poisoning is not the only concern. Just by using some of these toxic products could mean we are compromising our health. Chemical levels can be up to 70 times higher inside the home that out. Over 100 chemicals commonly found in homes have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer, psychological abnormalities, skin reactions, headaches, depression, joint pain, chronic fatigue, chest pains, dizziness, loss of sleep, asthma. . .the list goes on. Housewives have a 55% higher risk of getting cancer than do women working outside the home. This most likely has to do with the products they use on a daily basis. Nervous disorders and respiratory problems have also been linked to hazardous substances in the home.

What are these Culprits that are endangering our health?

Common household cleaners such as Chlorine Bleach, Ammonia, Phosphates, Ethanol, Formaldehyde, Lye, Phenols, Fillers & NTA’s The truth is that over 70,000 new chemicals have been introduced since WWII.Today, thousands of these chemicals are appearing innocuously on the shelves of your grocery store. Merely because they are for sale on the shelves, you assume these products are safe for you and your family, but I hope you can see here that they are not!

The next time you stroll down the household cleaning aisle of your local supermarket, take a deep breath. What you are experiencing is called “OUTGASSING.” This means that invisible toxic vapors are continuously being release from the closed packaging into the air. The same outgassing happens at home, 24 hours a day from the products stored under your sink!

Cancer in smokers is the result of daily exposure to the trace amounts of carcinogens in cigarettes. In the same way, people who are exposed daily to low levels of carcinogens in their cleaning products face the same risks. Chemicals in household products also put the user at risk for nervous system damage, kidney damage, liver damage and asthma. Children are especially vulnerable to the chemical fumes released by these products.

So, the question is, why are we still using dangerous household products? Often the answer is because people feel there is nothing else to do. This is simply not true.
