Ok todays insight is of the Colossian church as Paul is addressing some of Jesus teachings to them, very important for us followers of Jesus. 1.) Read Colossians 2:16-23, looking for other misleading teachings that the Colissions were being tempted to fall into. Look for at least three major false teachings. 2.) What do vv. 16-17 say to the person today who thinks we should keep the Sabbath and observe Old Testiment regulations? 3.) What is the basic problem with the person describe in v.18? 4.) Does the word "asceticism" have meaning to you? If it does not, look it up in the dictionary. 5.) Apparently some were teaching that ascetisim was the way to spirituality- denying our bodily needs and harshly treating the body (vv.20-23). What does the Bible say? 6.) Why do you think people are often vulnerable to exotic teachings about how to become spiritaul? What do they fail to understand about Christ?
