Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Colossians 3:16. The Letter to the Colossians will give you vision for the kind of study you can regularly have taking other books from the Bible as the object of your study. The Title to this first study obliviously will be " Introduction & Background" 1.) From a study Bible, Bible dictionary, or commentary read about the background of Colossians. Understand what concerns motivated Paul to write this letter. 2.) Read Colossians 1:1-8 underlining key phrases as you read. 3.) a) What qualititys did Paul see in the lives of these Christians taht caused him to be so thankful for them? b) Where did he see these qualitys coming from? c) How are you showing these qualitiys in your relationship with others? 4.) Read 1:9-14, underlining key phrases as you read. 5.) a) List the things Paul was praying would be found in the lives of these disciples. b) What kind of life is pleasing to God in every way? Where is your heart in regard to these things? 6.) What overall purpose do you think Paul had in writing what he did in the introduction to this letter (vv. 1-13)?
