Overcoming Unconditionally- an excerpt
5/7/2007 12:03:52 PM
An excerpt from the book, The Bait Of Satan, by some guy named John Revere, Good insight though!  "A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle." Proverbs 18:19   An offended brother or sister is harder to win than a fortified city. The strong cities had walls around them. These walls were the city's assurance of protection. They kept unwelcome inhabitants and invaders out. All entrants were screened. Those who owed taxes were were not allowed in until they had paid. Those considered a threat to the citys health or safety were kept out. We construct walls when we are hurt to safeguard our hearts and prevent future wounds. We become selective, denying entry to all who fear will hurt us. We filter out anyone we think owes us something. We withold access until these people have paid their depts in full. We open our lives to those we believe are on our "side".         The focus of offended Christians is inward and introspective. We gaurd our rights and personal relationships carefully. Our energy is consumed with making sure no future injuries will occur. If we dont risk being hurt, we cannot give unconditional love. Unconditional love gives others the right to hurt us. Love does not seek its own, but hurt people become more and more self-seeking and self-contained. When Jesus was wronged, He did not wrong in return but committed his soul to God, who would judge righteously. We are admonished to follow in His footsteps. 1 Peter 2:21-23 says, " For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving an example, that you should follow His steps: Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth'; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return;when He sufferd, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who Judges righteously."

Dear Thomas,

While I appreciate the content of this forum, I would like you to expand your writings to explain segregation and how it affected the life's our ancestors, particularly the Period before and after Christ. We read in the Bible of different classes of people who lived. The Pharisees, the Samaritans, the Sadducee's, the scribes, Sanhedrin's, GENTILES. UNCLEAN AND LEPPERS , SLAVES etc.

In the 21st Century, we still have these classes of people with different names and tendencies. These are the true walls of Hatred and Segregation. These are the true enemies to Humanity . How can one express love to someone who despises and hates others because they belong to a different class or Origin?

Unconditional Love can be attained , when we are directly submissive to our God, in such a way and manner that the injurious actions of men disappear, and pass away like the wind. Such a submission paves the way to forgiveness and truth.

Bon Jour' my friend! To answer your question i will have to go and research on that today and get back to you soon, for now i would like for you to read what i think of how to follow Jesus in the right way as it pertains to the Scriptures and to who we are as a Faimly of God- "Disciples of Christ", this is a qyestion that has my answer to it. The Question is Do you believe that your church is perfect? No not at all. Only God is perfect. We are simply sinners who have been saved by te grace of God and who are striving to please God in all we do. Unlike some groups that espouse the doctrine of "sinless perfection," we claim niether the church nor any individual in the church to be "perfect." However, that does not mean that apathy is acceptable! Jesus made that very clear in Revelatin 3: 15-16 when he rebuked lethergy and commended earnestness. In 1 John 1:7-10 we see that God expects us to walk in the light. Yet we still sin, and in his grace he has made provision for that through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Moreover, we do no believe that our leaders are perfect. Even the great apostle Paul admitted as much in Philippians 3:12-13. Although we hold very high standards for our leaders, they still make mistakes. The thousands of leaders around the wrld are certainly going to make a number of mistakes, even while having the best of intentions. Grace is a daily reality for the disciple of Jesus. Each true follower of Jesus is willing to admit his or her sin, repent and rejoice in the love of God. Disciples grow as they change to be more like Jesus.  I hope this excplains a little about myself. Hold that thought in question my friend , you can also PM me if you like?
