I
hit upon this idea the other day, after putting together Friday's
Newsletter (I now do a Friday Newsletter, but you don't get it if you haven't Subscribed). Why not create a Theme Week, maybe once a month, just for fun?
So, this Week is Henry David Thoreau Week, to recognize an American
naturalist who left us so many wonderful inspiring words.
Henry
David Thoreau, was born July 12, 1817 in Concord Massachusetts. He is
best know for his book Walden, and his essay "Civil Disobedience." He
was befriended by Ralph Waldo Emerson, (another of my favorites), who
employed him as a handyman and garden, but also encouraged him to write.
More about Henry tomorrow. Now for the Quotes.
If
a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he
hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears,
however measured or far away.
Henry David Thoreau
This
is one of my all time favorite quotes, not just for the beauty of his
words, but for the music it invokes within my soul and my own life.
You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
Henry David Thoreau
Find
your eternity in each moment. Again a chord is struck. For weeks now I
have been signing off with a variation on this theme, today I will use
Henry's words to sign off.
Have a simple, pleasant Monday.
