To whom it may concern,
This is kind of a broad question. I must know where you are traveling from and how far you would like to go. For instance, if you are on the west coast, do you want to travel to the east coast and vice versa? Do you want to go out of country? I will rattle off a few suggestions.
On the East coast of the US, I recommend most of, but not all the Delaware beaches, Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach Virginia or the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There are many area to go in these places that are family oriented. Virginia Beach has the most attractions though. Around there, there is Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown settlement and Busch Gardens. However, ther is not much for a toddler to do in Busch Gardens.
On the west coast, Mendocino, CA is a quaint town in the heart of redwood country. It is also right on the shore. If you get tired of the beach, you can take a great ride through the redwood forest. Avenue of the Giants (a road much like the Skyline Drive in Virginia) is not a far drive. It winds through the redwoods. If you are into camping, there are a lot of places to camp in the area.
If you want to leave the country, Cancun has a few family oriented resorts. Since children (even toddlers) like to dig, I think a beach vacation would be perfect. There is plenty of sand to dig in, a natural sand box if you will. Just stay away from the major party beaches.
I hope this helps.
Take care,
Glenn
