For a friend


A friend of mine once asked me

To write something beautiful for all to see

I told her I couldn't do it

But I could as you can see



Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

And true beauty comes from within

We can all see the beauty of the butterfly

But can we see it in the caterpillar where it began



If you're colorful like the butterfly

Then your beauty is easily seen

Like a diamond in the rough

Some beauty is not yet seen



Before a rose bud may blossom

It must feed on food from within

It digs deep down to its roots

So it may share its beauty once again



It's the same way with mankind my friend

We get our nourishment from within

Only then can we truly blossom

To share our beauty with a friend

True beauty is within.

Too many poeple only see us from the outside and judge

without getting to know our attitudes, and the depth of our love.

A truly great person is one who loves unconditionally,

through times of poverty, sickness, and pain,

and is there to help raise your spirits.

It does not matter if one has money or not,

or has physical beauty or not,

what truly matters is our ability to give thanks to our Lord

For the wonders this world beholds,

including the beauty within ourselves and others.
