DECOUPAGE TIPS ..... CUTTING OUT PRINTS
The more accurate you cut your prints, the better your finished item will look. You will need a cuticle scissors with very sharp points and one that you will feel comfortable with. I bought 5 different ones until I found one that I love.
Hold the scissors at an angle when you cut so that edges of the paper are beveled. This leaves less of a "ridge" at the edges when the prints are glued down. Cut away the inner waste bits first and the edges last. The reason for this is because it is more cumbersome to cut the inner bits when you only have delicate edges to grab on to.
Always cut out more prints than you think you will need. It is amazing how many pictures are used to create a really beautiful decoupage.
When you have a large collection of prints all sorted out, you can sit and cut at your leisure until you have the required amount for a particular project. I find it quite relaxing to sit and cut in front of the TV.
