Don't Ever Pay For Open Source HTML Editors, They Are Free

Hi Everyone,

TODAY is all about HTML Editors at no cost 2 U as promised in my last posting.

I’ve got a two-fer for you today on this subject, with a few extra supplementary resources thrown in for good measure. It’s a pair of web page editors and they’re as good as having Microsoft’s Front Page on your computer. They are professional quality tools and they are absolutely 100% fr*eeee!

First up is HTML-Kit. This is an HTML editor that allows you to connect to your web server through a File Transfer Protocol program (FTP for short) and edit your web pages in place! This means that you don’t have to download your web pages, just update them on your PC and then re-upload them to your site.

Today I’ve just added a new resource section to our website, it’s a total comprehensive online FTP Tutorial area, nothing to download or sign up for, just add it to your favorites and go back as often as you need to, even tell your friends about it. It consists of step-by-step pictorial tutorials for some of the more popular FTP programs, all fr*ee of course with our compliments, I’m sure you’ll love them all. It’s set up like a mini site. Don’t worry if your program isn’t featured, as they all tend to be similar in format, and I’m sure our tutorials will still be of help.

You can make a change in HTML-Kit, save it, and immediately see the change on your site. The tool also has HTML code highlighting and direct support for PHP programming (through fr*ee plug-ins) (now I know that the version of Front Page I use cannot do PHP at all) for those of you who are more technically oriented.

Have you ever wanted an office suite of applications more powerful than Microsoft Office, yet comes to you at no cost? It can even produce pdf files and has multi-lingual capabilities. It’s called OpenOffice and is available fr*ee because it’s an open source application under the GNU Licence

WARNING Open Office is a very large download file well over 60mb so you’ll need a good program to handle it, especially if, like me you are on a dial up ISP. The best program for this is Download Accelerator Plus, DAP for short, from Speedbit, and their no cost edition is ideal for downloading anything from the Internet. It will resume most downloads should you lose your connection which is invaluable for larger files. I personally use it all the time. Almost everyday in fact

Next up is NVU. This is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web page editor. I use this when I want to whip out a quick web page without having to deal with HTML tags and tables directly.

You never have to view the code directly (although you can with the source view feature). The bottom line is, if you can use a word processor, you can easily use NVU. And there’s a version for MAC and Linux users, too! Now that’s cool

Nvu is 100% open source and released under the Mozilla Public License (MPL). Anyone is welcome to download Nvu at no charge, including the source code if you need to make any special changes or just fancy your chances at coding. If you can code and make any dynamic changes to this software then do share your improvements with everyone else through their website so everyone benefits from your Open Source expertise. Remember you should never be charged, EVER, for any open source software or applications

I hope you find our regular gifts and resources valuable and useful. Let us know what you think, do they help you and your online business? As an added bonus if you also supply your name, and website link we will give you full credit for any information we use.

Thank you for these free resources, Luella!

Appreciate that not only did you make them available, but you included a brief review to give us an idea about them. For those just learning how to design and set-up your own website, this is a great help!

Cheers!
Ricardo
