Are you a G.R.E.A.T. Marketer?

Hi Trina!

I been thinking about Marketer behavior for the last little bit and came up with this article. Thought I would post it here as food for thought for your forum members. IT may seem like a bit of a rant... but that is just my style...no holds barred.

Are you a G.R.E.A.T. Marketer?
by Roy Houston 02/28/2007

Over the past few years, I've had the chance to talk with litterally thousands of marketers. They have all been fine folk in their own way. I did notice though that many of them seemed to be having problems with their marketing, both online and offline and after a bit of thought I realized that most of the people I had met, who were having difficulties were missing some KEY elements in their marketing. Some folks were missing all of them. These are elements are what I call the G.R.E.A.T. factors.

Lets take a look at what makes a G.R.E.A.T. marketer. These are peopel who are, in my opinion:

Genuine - A G.R.E.A.T. marketer is in their business for other people, not themselves. They want to fill a need, be it with their product or service, or with their income opportunity. The person who is out to help others will inspire them through example. They are their to help their customers and reps. Their best successes come from seeing one of their team succeed. A geniune marketer will look at a potential customer or rep, and find ways to help that person, forgoing their own immediate gains and rewards for the long term benefits.

A motivational speaker once said - " Help people get what they want, and you'll get what you want". Are you helping others first... or helping yourself first?

Responsible - I've seen this element ignored completely. People get what I call Dollar sign blinders slapped on them, and their responsibility goes right out the window. As a marketer, who is likely looking to bring other people to their opportunities, there is a responsibility to the people who are enrolled. It is up to WE THE MARKETER to do the due diligence on a company. It is up to WE THE MARKETER to check into the legality of an opportunity, or the safety of a product. Ask yourself this.... DO I perform a proper due diligence on an opportunity or product, or do I sign up just because it sounds legit and my friend joined before me? IF you answered more towards the "because it sounds legit" end of that question, You need to realize that you, and anyone you enrol  CAN end up in JAIL for promoting illegal opportunities or unsafe products. A couple days to research an opportunity or product doesn't seem so bad when compared to a few years in an 8 foot x 8 foot cage does it?

Ethical - Ethics in business, especially any type of networking related business are critical. Your team will do what you do. If your downline see's you bending the rules, telling white lies, and using techniques of a questionable nature, this is going to breed one of two things. It will either breed the WRONG kind of duplication that will send your business into the gutter, OR it will breed contempt for you among the members of your downline who actually do have an ethical issue with your tactics and they will drop out or change uplines.

IF you find that you have to bend the rules, tell white lies or half truths, and use questionable practices to sell your product or enrol other agents, chances are you're not marketer material or you're in the wrong business. IF this section about ethics describes you or your upline, it may be time for a re-evaluation so you can become a G.R.E.A.T. marketer.

Attentive - Ok, Fantastic... so far you have all the features of a G.R.E.A.T. marketer. You're Genuine, Responsible, and Ethical... but are you attentive?

A G.R.E.A.T. Marketer pays attention to what is going on in their business. They watch their team to see who may need help. Sure it's fine to go around signing up everyone and their dog to your opportunity. Are you however, prepared to assist these peope to succeed? After all if they fail, you fail. The reason most people fail in Networking businesses is because they get their stuff, all set to go, and they are left on their own to work a system that may not work for them.

An attentive Marketer will see when people are having trouble, offer assistance, and work with that person to develop a marketing strategy that works for that person. A cookie cutter process does not work for everyone. Are you honestly watching your downline and Offering help where it's needed. Mayny downline members won't come to you for fear of looking silly or unable to do the business.  As an Attentive Marketer it is up to YOU to take the first steps with them until they are comfortable asking for your input. Do this and you'll likely see your business explode.

Targeted - This quality is two fold. A G.R.E.A.T. marketer is also targeted. This can also be called Dedicated, focused or loyal to their business. A G.R.E.A.T. Marketer is NOT a program hopper. They pick a business and work only that business, at least until it is established and self sustaining...requireing very little upkeep. Yes, multiple streams of income are a good thing, however, not everyone can work multiple businesses, just like some people can't multitask more than 2 things at a time on their computers. If you have multiple businesses, don't swamp your downlines and do what some call cross sponsoring.

The other aspect of being targeted pertains to their business plan. A G.R.E.A.T. marketer has an plan of action for promoting their product, service, and business in general. As I mentioned previously, people will do what their enrollers do. IF your downline see's you advertising blindly, they will advertise blindly. This usually results in less than expected results.

G.R.E.A.T. marketers do their research to find the mostt effective ways to advertise. The fastest way to lose downline is to have them duplicate methods that don't work.

Are you a program hopper? Do you have a marketing plan? IF not, correcting the answers to these questions so the answers are yes, could see your business explode.

I hope I've given some food for thought, without being too rough. It is my sincere wish that those of you who use this and become G.R.E.A.T. Marketers have all the success that you worked hard for.

I hope to see you "In the Winner's Circle" VERY soon!

All the best!
