So, if you know of anyone here at AdlandPro that are not necessarily "high profile" people per say, and that don't get the recognition that they deserve, let us know. Hello Everyone,

First of all, I want to say how grateful I am for being featured here at the "Parade of Stars".  It was actually quite a surprise to be chosen, since I don't really picture myself in the role of a Star, but rather in a strong Supporting Role.  That's really what I tend to think is the primary reason I am here at AdlandPro.  That's not to say I don't have a couple of opportunities to share, it's just that the main reason I joined back in May, 2005, was to make new Friends, share Ideas & Encouragement, and to Learn from others who were much more experienced in using the Internet as a Marketing Tool.

I was born in "The Furniture Capitol of the World", High Point, NC, on March 22, 1947, weighing in at 12 lbs. 7 ozs., and measuring 23" long.  Supposedly, my Dad tried desperately to find a Football Uniform for me to wear home from the Hospital.  As I continued to grow throughout School, I did indeed play Football from the age of 9 all the way through School.  Since by my High School years I dressed out at 6' 4" & 325 lbs., I played one/half of the front line on both Offense & Defense.

My younger years were somewhat uneventful, except for one occurence that shaped the rest of my life.  By the time I entered First Grade, my Dad, who had been working in the Hosiery Mills, for minimal wages, went to work for the Insurance Company that was known for selling "A Little Piece of the Rock", and our lifestyles changed dramatically.  He would occasionally take me along when making service calls, premiums were still collected at the Home back then, and on one visit, he actually did a presentation and made a nice sale.  As we were leaving in the car, Dad handed me 2 Crisp One Dollar Bills and informed me that that was my "Commission " for helping him to make that Sale.  About the same time, he also said that as long as you have something to sell and you're not afraid to talk, then you'll never go hungry.  I think it's obvious by my picture, I've never gone hungry.  Long story short, I've been selling every since.

After Graduation from High Point University with a dual Major in Business Management & Accounting, my first job was in Credit Mangement for a small Textile Machine Company.  It took less than a year for me to realize that I was not meant to sit in an office and crunch numbers.  Therefore, in early 1971, I went to work for the same Company as my Dad, and have never really looked back.  After all, this job not only gave me the freedom to meet great people everyday, to be out amongst the public and helping others, it also increased my pay within 3 months from $150/50-hour week, to $500-$600/week, slaving away at the Golf Courses, Coffee Shops, Restaurants and in many of the nicest homes in the area.  Of course, there have been other positions since the early 70's, most involving Independent Insurance Sales.  From '74-'84, I worked as a Placement Specialist for the NC Employment Security Commission, until President Reagan had brought the Economy back to the point where so few people were unemployed that we were no longer needed by the ESC and I was Laid-Off by the Unemployment Office.  Since Dad & I had started an Independent Insurance Agency following his retirement in 1981, I returned fulltime to Insurance and operated that Agency until 1994, following my Dad joining my Mother in Heaven.

At the present, I own & operate my own Independent Agency, selling multiple-lines, including Life, Health, Disabilty Insurance, & Legal Insurance, primarily to Business and Employee Groups.  In addition, to keep up my Accounting Skills, I have owned & operated a small Bookkeeping & Income Tax Service since 1985.
