Hi Marion,
Thanks for a peek at life in the USA during the 50's. Being from the UK and still in short pants and school during that time, I recall Teddy Boys with their flick knives and drainpipe trousers as the fashion then, but by the time I was old enough to copy the style, they had gone out of fashion here.
I enjoyed the rock and roll music and used to buy 78's and played them on my radio-gram, did anyone have one of those? Later 45's first came out and I got Elvis Presley singing "All Shook Up", one of his best songs in my oppinion.
We had Tommy Steele and Cliff Richard when they were young and sang rock and roll songs. Then the money made them into people who were liked by our parents, so we no longer liked them.
Later on I got my first stereo, and some stereo albums. I have better memories of the Beatles taking the USA by storm in the 60's but that was when I had started to work having left school.
Thanks for those great recordings, shame music is almost dead now, those that cannot sing talk and call it rap, but I call it something simular sounding.
Steve Vincent.
