Do you stand out in a positive way at work? Do your customers, co-workers, supervisors know who you are? If they do know who you are, would they have a conversation about you that was favorable or unfavorable? What would they say about you? Are you someone in the company that has value, that they could not do without?
How did you answer these questions? Even if you can answer "yes" to all of these questions you still need to show documentation of your contribution. That is not to say that you need to brag and boast about yourself, but you do need to maintain a healthy attitude and self-confidence. It is up to you to show people that you have value, or something to offer them. When your supervisor looks at you they should know why they should keep you, and what attributes you possess that add value to the company. Remember that little saying, "If it's to be it's up to me."
That may be a very simple statement, but at the same time it holds alot of meaning to it. You control your own destiny, and if you want to move up and be noticed then you have to make sure that happens...no one else. One of my favorite quotes is one by none other than the late Walt Disney himself, "There is only one person that can change your life....YOU!"
That is definitely the truth! Think about that and remember you make things happen, you have to show your value, and you need to show them that you have value. Self-confidence is an attitude! It is not about becoming something you are not, but rather it is recognizing what you already are. Stand tall and hold your head up high always. Everyday think about the things that make you special, celebrate your skills and your personality attributes and be proud of who you are.
Take care and God Bless,
Marilyn
