Design Your Sales Process
Don’t just let
first-time visitors wander around your website. You need to discover what makes
visitors click on a link that will guide through the persuasive path you want
them to take. It’s up to you to create a “click-thru” experience that influences
visitor behavior. Remember to make it fast, keep it brief and make it
compelling!

Increase conversion rates first …
Before you
implement your search engine optimization strategy, fix your site. Remove
unnecessary steps in your checkout process, prominently display your privacy
assurances, clarify your unique value proposition and lead with your guarantee.

… and then increase traffic.
Don’t waste
your Internet marketing dollars on geo-targeting, organic SEO or PPC until
you’re sure the increase in visitors translates to sales. A visitor who passes
by and doesn’t buy - at least to opt-in for your FREE stuff - has far less
chance of ever returning to your site.

Design for your customers …
Flash is cool,
right? Check your stats on the number of visitors who click “skip” to bypass
your sophisticated show. Unless it’s improving conversions, save the time and

… but be sure to sell to all of the senses
Some learn by
seeing, others by hearing and others by touching - so you have to have options
for all of the senses to get more people to buy. You can have great graphics and
world-class copy, but you’ll miss two-thirds of the market if you don’t have
audio and video clips on your site to tell your story.

Copy is king on the web, too!
Your words are
ultimately what will cause people to buy - whether they are written or spoken.
Your copy must answer the question of what action needs to happen, who needs to
do it and how to persuade people to take the action you desire - now!

Color matters!
Many people
think color is just cosmetic. The truth is that color is light - and our
instinctive unconscious responds to it as a vital element in our decision-making
process.

Opening or Closing Doors?
Does your Home
Page invite people into your site or drive them back to the search engine for
never visit you again? You have less than ten seconds to grab a visitor’s
attention, stimulate interest and inspire their desire to take action - while
making it easy and obvious to click deeper.

Enable effective scanning and skimming
These similar
terms have very different applications for your website. Effective scanning
allows us to scroll through your site quickly and systematically. Effective
skimming allows for quick and superficial reading. Your site must support both.

The Web is Personal
Speak to the
masses - you lose! Speak to each person - you win! Your writing for the web
needs to communicate in an engaging one-to-one style. Develop relationships and
connect with people and you can turn your website into a one-to-one sales force
that never sleeps!

Establish an ongoing relationship
Capture
permission to communicate with your visitors - and give your visitors valuable,
