THE BASRA ROAD

GOD THIS ROAD IS SO LONELY, SO SAD AND SOUNDLESS, AND FULL OF DESPAIR, THE SMELL AND THE CHARRING OF THE BODIES, THAT LINGERS EVERYWHERE, THEIR FACES FULL OF FRIGHT AND PAIN AND FEAR, BUT IN WAR IT'S THE SCREAMS OF AGONY THAT YOU REALLY DON'T HEAR.

HOW MUCH TIME DID THEY REALLY HAVE, TO MAKE THEIR ESCAPE, HOW MUCH TIME DID THEY HAVE , TO SORT OUT ALL THE THOUGHT'S IN THEIR HEADS, HOW MUCH PANIC AND VISIONS PASSED BEFORE THEIR EYES, AND DID ANYONE NOTICE, THAT THE ENEMY NEVER CRIED.

WE WERE THERE FOR THE AFTERMATH, A SIGHT NOT TO BEHOLD, SCRAPING BURNT BITS OF BODIES FROM METAL AND WINDOW FRAMES, WE WERE THERE FOR WAR, TO BE BRAVE AND TO BE BOLD, PREPARED TO DIE FOR YOUR COUNTRY, AND A GOVERNMENT WHO LIED, BUT DID ANYONE NOTICE THAT THE POLITICIANS NEVER CRIED.

DOES ANYBODY EVER WONDER HOW THE WAR VETERANS ACTUALLY ALL FEEL, HAS ANYONE EVER TRIED TO UNDERSTAND US AND ALL OUR NEEDS, WE ARE SICK AND UNWELL, AND DOES ANY GOVERNMENT CARE, I WISHED I REALLY WISHED IWAS KILLED ON THE BASRA ROAD THAT DAY, NO MORE DREAMS AND HATRED OF POLITICS BEWARE.
