The spirit of Kindness…after Christmas.
12/23/2006 4:03:16 PM
Well many of us hope the spirit of kindness that flourishes during the Wonderful Christmas Holiday Season will prevail when all the “Christmas Day” joy is over. No one likes to see the end of the kind of friendly atmosphere that the season brings. So we should endeavor to let the spirit of kindness continues…well beyond Christmas.

Business owners and merchants especially, may have special sales on December 26, 2006 but is that enough. Other business leaders may have given their staff a day (or even a week) extra after Christmas Day. And there are other examples of kindness. But what happens when the New Year arrives. Will the harshness of business and strict principles return? Will the spirit of the holiday be abandoned until December in the New Year?

It is common sense and good reasoning to want to operate a successful business online or offline. No rational person wants to manage his/her business at a loss. But even so, why should the spirit of kindness be ignored later because it’s no longer Christmas time? Humans are just that…humans and will expect to be treated in the manner expected…in a civilized way, which includes receiving continued kindness.

While children will out-grow the change in attitudes, moods and feelings that will occur after Christmas has passed, adults are more sensitive and will expect much more. They are not very tolerant of abrupt changes in some people “attitude of kindness.” Over the years, I have noticed adults change in attitudes, particularly on the days following the “ special Christmas Day.” Many do not like how others behave just because “Christmas dune now.” But yet, they also express such negative mood changes after the special day has past. We may need an expert in Behavioral Science to remind us of some the social and psychological reasons. However, we can still be more humane to each other even, after the holidays have passed.

I believe most of us really do love Christmas. No disrespect to those who are of another faith and do not participate in Christmas at all. But for those who do, we should remember to continue the spirit of kindness after the Christmas Holidays have past and the New Year has arrived to bring new blessings.

 Good Health to you!
