I am a skeptic philosophically. We are those nasty guys who point out that faeries do not actually exist, What The Bleep Do We Know?!(a silly film produced by J.Z. Knight, a.k.a. "Ramtha")is an appropriately titled film if it refers to the writers/producers, "Therapeutic touch" does not do anything, psychics are using simple parlor tricks(called "cold reading") that anyone can do and that the earth is not being visited by extra-terrestrials.
I am also an atheist, but fear not...I am not out to fight a war with theistic religionists, nor do I want people to start capitalizing the 'A' in "atheist", nor do I care much when someone casually mentions God. So long as you are not trying to force your religion on me or into the science classroom or putting forth revisionist history nonsense(i.e. "America was founded on Christianity..." is nonsense), I won't be protesting your every "God bless you!".
I DO have a short fuse when it comes to willful ignorance though. it is one thing to be, say a Creationist because you simply do not know what evolution is and honestly seek out information about such. But if you ignore that information after I provide it and insist on spewing absurdities, I am going to embarass you and not lose any sleep over it.
That is not a dare or a challenge. It is a warning.
Lets discuss.
