Didim Marina, which is being built by the Dogus Group will have a total capacity of 850 yachts, 550 in the sea and 300 on land. The site covers 114,000 square metres of land and 173,000 square metres of sea.

Didymian realtor Hasan Can Calgir said that the prices of land in the region will increase even more. He said: “The land prices that had increased with the British buying property in the district will soar after the marina construction. Investing in Didim will be quite profitable. The marina will attract big investors to Didim and will turn it into the tourism capital of the Aegean.”

Meanwhile Mr Kamaci said: “This investment will usher a new age for Didim. Once the marina is completed Didim will be number one in the Aegean region. The investment will help raise Didim to compete with the leading tourism centres Kusadasi, Bodrum and Marmaris.”

“Didim will get to its deserved position.”

Expressing satisfaction that Didim had made great strides in recent years for tourism, Mr Kamaci added: “A marina has been a great absence to Didim, which has a coast of 55 kilometres.?
“This giant investment of Dogus Group will change the face of Didim. Once the marina is in service, the quality of tourism in Didim will increase. I strongly believe that Didim will reach the place it deserves.”
Dogus Group’s construction supervisor Gokhan Ozerk, who informed Mr Kamaci that everything was proceeding as planned, said drilling had started and two wells has been dug.

Ozerk said: “We have not come across any problems yet in the construction of the marina. The cartographers have completed measuring the land. A transformer station is built on the site, the administrative and staff offices are being built and the site is surrounded by fencing. Now the filling will start. We have a 200,000 m3 of filling to do.”

He said he was hopeful the marina could be completed before the scheduled 30 months.
