Hi Yvonne,
How are you? Thank you for the timely post.
Indeed, Christopher Columbus did cross the
Atlantic Ocean to reach the "Americas" in
1492. Believe he first arrived on a Carribean
island, but forgot which one. Perhaps one of
our learned friends can name it.
As a Canadian, I thank you for the Thanksgiving
greetings as well. For me it marks the official
start of "transitioning" to a winter mindset:
- Putting away summer clothes, bringing out
the sweaters, coats, boots, etc.
- Getting set for curling season.
- The final month of lawn mowing; washing
and waxing the car one last time before
winter sets in.
- A final drive to the Laurentians (just
north of Montreal) to see the vivid
autumn colors.
Before I forget, we should also take this occasion
to give thanks to the Native Americans who helped
newcomers survive in the "New World". Let us
reflect on their culture and heritage, and pledge
to treat everyone in the world with respect.
Have a great and peaceful long weekend.
