Hello all,
Yes, Phil, there are horror stories on the P2P file sharing downloads.
For those that don't know. Peer2Peer file sharing is where everyone that is in the network 'shares' files; music, movies and other types of files. When you join you have agreed that any file in your shared folder can be accessed by others that are logged into the service, too.
This is how you get your music and/or videos - from other members' computers. The service doesn't do anything but give you a place to hook up.
Now, since you are 'sharing' downloads to make it the quickest transfer the files are broken down into packets on each persons computer. When files are transfered it's done in packets.
I will say for example that movie "Dracula" is broken down into 40 packets.
So computer 'A' may send the 4th packet to you first and stop after it sent the 6th packet. Computer 'B' sends packets 15 through 24. Computer 'C' then sends packet 2. Computer 'D' sends packets 1, 2, 7 through 14. Computer 'E' sends packets 38 through 40. Computer 'F' sends 26 through 35.
So far packets 25, 36 and 37 have not arrived so you have to wait until someone else logs in and has the same movie. Maybe 24 hours later you get lucky and get the rest of the packets. May take longer.
Anyway, you now have your movie and you start watching 'Dracula'. 35 minutes into the movie and you are no longer watching 'Dracula' You have someone's homemade porn video!!!
How did this happen??? One of the packets was deliberately renamed and coded to to look like it is part of the 'Dracula' movie. The service autheticated the download and you paid for that.
As you see Peer2Peer (P2P) is not a safe way to do things. Viruses have been passed this way.
So, why not start a service where the movies are a solid download from one verified source, virus and hack free? This would be a huge business for anyone because the market is just starting.
Look at companies like BlockBuster, Erol's, Video Den, NetFlix and all. From the VCR/Beta tapes to now DVDs these people have made BILLIONS in the movie industry.
Be the first to get into this new wave of movie delivery. PSP sales were HUGE since it's release and the consumers need products for them.
Are you gonna be the next BlockBuster Video of the Internet?
