Recovering From Computer Disaster
9/22/2006 3:44:29 PM

Greetings,

One would have thought that buying a new computer, would have shielded one from the usual annoyances of an older model. To my amazement, though, a new computer can bring greater calamity.

After receiving a large amount of error messages; regular freezing up of the screen on this new PC, among other unpleasant encounters, I decided to get help from Technical  Support under new PC warranty.

Each one at the Support Centre, had a different set of advise which complicated things even more. But the worst was yet to come. One person gave me advise for restoring the original configuration of the computer.

While this process stopped many error messages, it wiped out  yeas of work that I moved to this new PC. This means that programs, folders, files with contacts and other information were all overwritten.

My most challenging task was to retrieve HTML files from my Website at http://www.globalfamilyadvocate.com then update
them with new info. This will be an on-going process since zip-files that were under re-sellers right, have also been wiped off the computer.

Those of you who invited me to new forums, might want to send your invitations again. Where membership of forums were completed, I will need help to build a record membership of forums.

Your understanding and advise will be appreciated!
