Hi Kathy & Everyone,
You continually amaze me with the subjects & topics that you share with us.
Unfortunately so many people have, or are experiencing co-dependency. And what is just as sad if not sadder is that a lot of them are not even aware, or understand that they are, or what to do. They have kind of grown to accept things as their norm.
The first step to recovery is to acknowledge that things are dysfunctional, and to seek assistance.
Next begin to working on improving yourself. Some suggestions are, pick supportive friends & a healthy environment.
Become as educated as possible , and study & apply alternative habits.
To strive to grow towards and in interdependency vs. co-dependency.
To accept your responsibility and the part you have with codependency
To recognize unhealthy habits, like enabling, rescuing, etc.
To start forming positive habits like open communication, respect, as well as boundaries.
Co-dependency did not just happen over night, and eliminating it won't either. But it is achieveable.
May Everyone Live Long Healthy & Happy!
