Flouride...friend or foe?
9/7/2006 8:36:17 AM
I don't know if any of you guys caught the Aug edition of Prevention, but it talks about the amount of flouride in the drinking water. They state that ingesting high levels of flouride over a lifetime can cause weakened bones. A Harvard study is even giving that possibility that it may cause a rare form of bone cancer in boys. Did you know that some forms of flouride are used to kill rats and insects. The people that add the flouride to the drinking water must wear protective clothing. Remember back when we used to have to sit in the dental chair with a mouth guard full of flouride? Have you ever asked the dental hygenist why they do do that type of thing anymore? For more info on this little study you can go to www.prevention.com. Stay tuned for the next edition of crazy things that we use everday. Thanks for humoring me guys. Angie

I feel lucky for the years that I actually drank fresh spring fed, well water in Florida. When I moved to city, I had to get a filter system and began drinking bottled water and Propel, Gatorade..... Flouride is only one of many pollutants we need to be concerned about. Everyone should be filtering their drinking water, and a filter on your shower is a good idea too! Linda

Thanks for the reply Linda. Do you know for years I used to have all the itchy red spots on me when I got out of the shower. It wasn't until I got a shower filter that I realized that it was probably the chlorine in the tap water that was causing it. I hate taking showers anywhere else. I can do without the reaction. Angie
