Don't ask God for what you think is good
8/23/2006 5:24:04 AM
Hello and good morning, Have a great day. Kathy/simikathy.com Don't ask God for what you think is good: Ask for what he thinks is good for you. During a prayer meeting one night, an elderly woman pleaded, "It really doesn't matter what you do with us Lord, just have your way with our lives." Adelaide Pollard, a rather well known itinerant Bible teacher overheard her prayer. At the time, she was deeply discouraged because she had been unable to raise money she needed to go to Africa for missionary service. She was moved by this womwn's sincere request of god, and when she went home that evening, she meditated on Jeremiah 18:3-4: Then I went down to the potters house, and behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter, so he made it again another vessel,as seemed good to the potter to make it. Before retiring, Adelaide took penin hand and wrote in hymm form her own prayer: 'Have Thine own way Lord!!!Have Thine Own WAy!!!Thou art the potter,I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy Will, while I am waiting, yielding and still. "Have Thine own way, Lord!!!Have Thine own way!!!Search me, try me, Master today!!! Whiter than snow, lord, wash me just now, as in Thy presence humbly I bow". The best way to discover the purpose for your life and how to do it is to give your whole life to God.Then he can fullfill his planfor you. After this manner therefore pray ye.... Thy kingdom come Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10

Kathy, thank you for sharing this. I use the expression "In Gods time, not ours!" Also, I point out this scripture in regards to your message. Luke 11:9 KJV And I say unto you; Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Would you mind if I share my testimony here in your forum? Tom

I have spent most of my adult life trying to make things right myself until I finally realized that the only way things would go well for me was if I asked God to let his will be done in my life.  Anytime there is stress or heartache I just as God to take it off of me and let his will be done.  It works!!  It has gotten me throught some really hard times.  He was there all along but I had to humble myself and realize that I wasn't very good at taking care of me or those around me.  My intentions were good but that was not my job.  Ask and ye shall receive.
