Hello Everyone, It's time Again for The BEST New Forum at AdlandPro that Honors Members of Our Community; Welcome to *Adland's Weekly Parade Of Stars*! Week# 20 This forum is fun, exciting, and is a much needed addition to the AdlandPro community because we are featuring many great and caring people that may otherwise go unnoticed. That is why our forum is a little different than other ones here at Adland that honor members of our community. Our forum features a member of the AdlandPro community each week who is truly a bright and shining *STAR*. It is a person that may not necessarily be a "high-profile" person per say, but rather someone that is not only a great friend to many, but also has a good heart and truly cares about others. ******************************************** Let me introduce the most awesome group of team mates anyone could ever have! Not only are they my very good friends, but I also have the pleasure of working with them to bring this forum to all of you, each and every week; Deborah Skovron http://community.adlandpro.com/go/debskovron/default.aspx Alfred Delgado http://community.adlandpro.com/go/slendel/default.aspx Donna S. http://community.adlandpro.com/go/rainbow123/default.aspx Adebola Oni http://community.adlandpro.com/go/bolaoneal/default.aspx Mohamed Gani http://community.adlandpro.com/go/Gani/default.aspx Georgios Paraskevopoulos http://community.adlandpro.com/go/Genesis/default.aspx and myself; Marilyn L. People that are selected will be recognized based on: 1. Acts of kindness that they show to their fellow man. 2. Must be willing to help others, and treat people in a kindly manner. 3. Have a good-hearted nature, and shows it through all that they do. 4. Must be a positive role model, and set a good example 5. Must be professional, avoids negativity, and promotes success through faith and hard work So, if you know of anyone here at AdlandPro that are not necessarily "high profile" people per say, and that don't get the recognition that they deserve, let us know. We will be helping to get people recognized that should be *A Star.* All nominations must be in by Saturday and you please tell us why you believe the person deserves to be recognized. I was the second child, my sister being two years older than me. My father, having been part orphaned along with his several brothers and sisters at an early age, was brought up in an Army school which was very strict and almost Victorian in it’s approach to children. Very harsh but ‘’character forming’’ treatment meant that until he met my mother he had little love and did not understand family behaviour as he had been separated from his brothers and sisters. My father inevitably , ended up joining the army and after the outbreak of World War II served in Palestine until he was discharged with ill health. This was a blow to him as he knew nothing else in life. He was a serving but non-commissioned officer at his time of leaving but did not qualify for a pension, thus my early days were poor financially, but well loved. My mother was a marvel, she turned her hand to anything, she would sew, knit, garden, keep chickens, mend electrical problems, in fact whatever life threw at her. She had very strong opinions which were to be a problem later but I loved them both. At 16 years old I met a girl, or rather she sent somebody to ask if I would walk her home? You bet. We were married five years later when I qualified as a compositor (hand typesetting in the printing trade). We went on to have two lovely daughters and more recently two granddaughters. My wife has supported me through all the things that I have done (even the less smart ones) she has been my rock. I love her very much and hope that I tell her often enough. Our granddaughters are a joy in our lives and now this August my younger daughter (in her 30’s now) is getting married so I sense more little girls on the horizon (we don’t do boys). My wife worked in the legal and accountancy world most of our married life and now, despite two years of serious illness, is Postmistress of our local Town Post Office. She has the craziest sense of humour in the world. We have laughed through life’s trials and joys. I continued in the printing trade for many years and after a few years as a company director I entered a business partnership , which for a while was hugely successful but my partner got greedy and almost bankrupt me. I had been in graphic design as well as production so when I found myself jobless after a serious operation I swapped my design skills to my hobby and became a Garden Designer and Landscaper. I continue to this day to have some work in this field working from the beautiful town of Haslemere where we have lived for 26 years. I have always been a communicator and so alongside of my gardening I ran MLM businesses and ended up building a big telecoms business ( partly in the USA), I ran a travel business alongside supplying VIP and business vacations, These businesses worked well together and in the last few years, while my wife was ill, I spent more time on the computer and developed more and more communication skills. I continue my interest in insider travel with the very successful Travel Reaction - http://www.travelreaction.com/6165142. I am now also a qualified hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner. I have always loved working with people and in the last few years more and more for children, supplying solutions for kids with trauma, habit or personality disorders. My Hypnosis work is very rewarding and sometimes humbling, as I work often with people far more academic than myself. My everyday work involves helping adults with a whole raft of challenges, from smoking cessation to depression, to business and marital problems. I don’t counsel I enable people to bring about change through themselves. I have worked a lot recently with Autism and Asperger’s clients with great reward. I am building a new website but I do have one that shows some of my current work http://www.beautiful-therapy.co.uk As a Christian I believe that I use God’s power that is in us all to bring about the changes needed. I love this aspect of my work. I am lucky to live in a very beautiful part of England, one hour from London and 35 minutes from the sea. Haslemere, where I live, is the highest town in the South of England and has superb and varied countryside. I can walk from our High Street and in 5 minutes be in fields of cattle, oak trees, rolling Surrey hills and fresh air. I am VERY lucky. The town and area were always popular as a living place for top politicians and at one time was a cultural retreat with homes owned by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Sir Arthur Connan Doyle and others. Haslemere still holds the Annual Music Festival of early English music, hosted by Dolmesch the Recorder and early instrument manufacturers, still with strong connections here. I consider myself to have been amongst one of the most privilaged generations ever in the UK Once a week I see clients in Southampton (where the Mayflower set off to America with the Pilgrim Fathers) and always enjoy the trip. I am no saint (many would agree) but my lifetime need to be liked led inevitably to me solving problems for others. This in turn led me to a philosophy that most things, good or bad, has a positive side. I have had a few disasters and big challenges in my life but I am stronger for it. My business partnership experience years ago has helped me to help others. My wife’s recent illness has helped me to understand a whole new group of people with problems that I didn’t realise existed. My gift of forgiveness is the greatest gift that God has given me. I do not find forgiving anybody a problem if I can learn to understand their motives. This gift is hard for others though as I have been able to forgive those who hurt my family sometimes but my family sometimes can’t. It saddens me but I do understand. I now have new challenges, not unique to me but none the less painful, which involve my memory and organisational skills. I am assured that this is not a big problem, but it is to me. I now have to, for example, go over and over stuff on the computer to understand, to remember what I have done and to properly record it. I lose passwords, forget where I filed stuff and create paper mountains BUT I am , through this process, learning to help others make their websites or instructions easier to understand. My foray into telecoms made me the sort of money that most of us only dream of, I built a huge team and reinvested my money as advised, then things went wrong and I now face huge financial pressures again. You see you can be at the top at one time only to find yourself back where you started. My challenge now is to find a way forward with no capital and failing physical health. I will do it and share my secret. Nobody was to blame, market pressures and global change mainly. My discovery of Videoemailing and conferencing has changed my life and my direction as I really believe that this is the most powerful tool in advertising since T.V. The ability to be able to talk live, using video technology without those old massive downloads of a year or so ago is mindblowing. With our need to cut unnecessary travel, conferencing over a pc is a real answer. It’s just another communication tool for me, see: http://www.myvideosystem.com/52624 and http://www.myvideotalk.com/52624 I continue to play with new sites and links with varying success as do most of us. One business that I love is http://www.igiveawaymoney.com?romac I really do believe that through helping others for free with genuine love that we end up benefiting ourselves, but we must never do it just for those reasons. Another site that is looking more than good is http://www.yourluckylist.com/index.php/romac I love Adland and this community as it opens up the widest and nicest set of options for us all. We can be business partners, chatty friends, both, or just observers, whatever we need. I am so honoured to be invited to appear here. My interests still include, music, 19th Century domestic architecture, gardening, travel and computers and writing stories for my granddaughters. I love most to spend time with my family. I see my future as one involving a holistic approach to life, communications and community. I am actively promoting environmental conservation and understanding, something that 5 years ago I would have considered cranky. I consider myself now more qualified, not less, to comment and help with business issues and my NLP training helps me to ask the right questions and supply the best strategy. I look forward to helping many friends here to find their real niche and to be the person they want to be. I recommend to anyone the wonderful Holistic Local website which has international links and is growing in influence daily http://www.holisticlocal.co.uk/members/invitation/103402 My prayer is now that all of the people of this world recognise the greatness within us and that we can forget our differences, most of us believe the same truths but share different cultural manifestations of it. My goals are to make enough money to open up my choices for my family and friends and then to spend time making the world a better place for children, they deserve the best we can give them. Love to all my friends, be brave and write a forum if you have never tried. We can support each other, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. That's a promise.
