Promotional Articles And Ghostwriting
4/17/2006 8:29:12 AM
Ghostwriting By Trina L.C. Schiller It has already been established that writing articles is the most effective way to promote a business. This is not news to anyone, who has been advertising online, for any length of time. Writing articles provides readers with information, which is what they're online for in the first place... To get information. Providing people with the information they are looking for warms them up to doing business with you. Why? Because you have, through the article they've read, demonstrated that you are knowledgeable in the area they want to learn about. You wouldn't ask a golf pro how to perform brain surgery, or a grocery store clerk how to prepare your income taxes. That would be ridiculous. You go to those who know what it is you want to know. Therefore, writing articles about your business clearly defines you as an expert, leading people to seek you out for more information. But, what if you do not know how to write? Not everyone is skilled as a writer. It is not a flaw, mind you; writing is a skill, like woodcarving, painting, or anything else that must be learned, practiced and developed. Not being a practiced writer is not a bad thing. Writing without skill is. So, what do you do if you're not a writer? You can either spend time learning the craft of writing, or you can hire it to be done for you. Recently, ghostwriting has become a bit of a buzz on the Internet. Gurus are selling ghostwriting software to everyone they can send an email to. But, just because a software program can spit out canned copy, doesn't mean it is good copy. It is one thing to fill in the blanks for a sales letter, but quite another to try to fill in the blanks for a quality informational article. I know, I've tried out some of the software available. These software programs don't think, therefore they are not going to spit out perfect copy for you. If you fill in the blanks the wrong way, your end product won't make sense. With these programs, you will still need someone to proofread and edit the copy before you can submit it. Software programs cannot write with tone, inflection, or emotion. To get the job done, and done right, you need to hire a professional. A live human being that can listen to what it is you are trying to convey, and write with intelligence and emotion. There are plenty of resources on the Internet for finding freelance writers to ghostwrite articles for you. Just Google the term, 'freelance writer,' and you'll end up with page after page of resources. Check them out. As with anything else that you would hire out for, interview the writers. Ask them questions about their past work, their knowledge, and their schedule. Ghostwriters are busy people too, and it would serve no purpose if you hired someone who couldn't fit you into their schedule for weeks, or months. Time moves too swiftly on the Internet for that. If you are serious about moving your business forward, promotional articles will take you much further than any other venue in online advertising. But do yourself a favor. If you are not a skilled writer, hire one. You can't fake it, and if you try, you will do more damage to your reputation than good. Trina, Good Morning, I am glad that you have kept me in the loop and I find the article that you have written very informative, however I have found some Grocery Clerks that know their way around a W9 or two... But still there holds a truth to what you are saying about preparing your lookie lou's the opportunity to get to know you and to have the confidence in you through the articles that you've presented to them. Very good and I for one would do business with you any day if I were looking to that is :) I however have my hands tied up at the moment with about three prospective businesses that I hope will take off soon and be worth all the time that I am putting into them. Take care and keep in touch OK Respectfully, Manuel D.
