‘What’s your source?’: Reince Priebus confronts NBC’s Chuck Todd over ‘false’ election hacking story

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus confronted NBC’s Chuck Todd on Sunday for his reporting on hacked emails based on a “false” New York Times story published Friday, which claimed Russian hackers breached both the RNC and DNC’s computer systems, but only released information from the DNC in order to influence the U.S. election in President-elect Donald Trump’s favor.

“When the DNC was hacked, we called the FBI. The FBI went through everything, and we were not hacked,” Priebus said, definitively. “If we were not hacked, then where does that story lie?”

Todd later followed up on the chairman’s denial, asking if anyone connected to the RNC was hacked.

“Not a single person connected to the RNC was hacked? You guys have had very specific denial that the RNC’s network wasn’t hacked. That doesn’t mean Republicans associated with the RNC weren’t hacked. That doesn’t rule that out. Do you categorically rule all that out?” Todd asked.

Priebus responded by saying, “I don’t know why you are so hot about this. I mean, the fact of the matter is, you should be happy the RNC wasn’t hacked,” adding that he doesn’t know of “any employee on any of their Gmail accounts that was hacked.”

Priebus further challenged the accuracy of the New York Times story.

“Why would the press run with something that isn’t true?” Preibus inquired.

“What I’m asking you Chuck, tell me what the specific source that you have, other than the New York times article. What source are you using to be so adamant to get a response from me? Whats your source?” Priebus pressed.
