The Silent Killer Coursing Through Your Arteries (And Why Worrying About It Only Makes It WORSE)!

We ALL “get hormonal” – often with devastating effects...

The Silent Killer Coursing Through Your Arteries (And Why Worrying About It Only Makes It WORSE)!

When it comes to dealing with stress, your body has only two instinctive responses:

FIGHT … or FLIGHT.

That’s because, until quite recently (in terms of our species’ time here on Earth), the only major stresses we faced were those for which “fight or flight” was a perfectly adequate choice.

But today, we’re faced with a higher level of stress, from a greater number of stressors, than ever before in our history!

And of course “worrying”, “fretting” over these things just adds a whole new level of stress!

Things like stop-and-go traffic, pervasive perfectionism, excessive use of stimulants like coffee, a witch’s brew of over-medication for even minor maladies, having to sift through an ever-growing amount of information, environmental toxins, pressure to perform at work, pressure to perform at home, today’s go-go-go lifestyle, economic pressures ... and so many other stressors that our bodies were never designed to deal with.

And they can all cause your adrenal glands to crank it up into over-drive, resulting in a spike in your body’s cortisol level.

But this is the “fight-or-flight” hormone. And if you neither run away nor do battle, then you don’t USE all that cortisol for what it’s intended … and instead, trouble ensues.

How can one little hormone be that bad?

Obviously, in the right amounts – small amounts – cortisol, like every other hormone your body produces, is a GOOD thing. We actually NEED cortisol ... in small amounts ... and at very specific times.

But in excessive amounts, or at the wrong time – the two conditions which seem to apply most often, in today’s society – this “one little hormone” can wreak all sorts of havoc with your body and brain.

For example, here are just some of the effects of excessive cortisol production:

Disruption of digestion (by decreasing peristalsis, the action that moves food through the intestines … and by reducing blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract in favor of the skeletal muscles).

Releases glycogen (stored sugar) from the liver in a single grand dump that dramatically raises blood sugar levels.

Induces such conditions as insulin resistance, inflammation, and reduced immune function.

Disrupts sleep-wake cycles … causing fatigue through the early part of your day, and preventing you from falling asleep at night.

Causes an imbalance of body fat storage, resulting in an abnormal amount of fat around the mid-section and abdominals.

Exhausts the adrenal glands through intermittent over-stimulation (resulting in under-activity of the adrenals when you need them, and a greater likelihood you’ll hit the snooze button several times, and need coffee or other stimulants to “get going” in the morning).

Often results in a raging appetite – especially for fatty foods and carbohydrates (like bread and sugars).

Can lower your metabolic rate (resting metabolism) by reducing muscle tissue, and depressing thyroid activity.

Lowers lbdo (s*x drive) by limiting tststrn production.

Reduces growth hormone (HGH). Growth hormone is a factor in tissue rejuvenation and the anti-aging process.

(In other words, excess cortisol can interfere with healing, and cause you to age faster!)

Can cause blood sugar imbalances … resulting in hypoglycemia, and symptoms of shakiness, irritability, fatigue, and headaches between meals.

Increase heart rate, and produce an unhealthy variability in your heart rate.

(For instance, if simply climbing out of bed in the morning results in more than a 5% increase in heart rate, your adrenals may be over-taxed.)

And with all the above, when you consider that over-production of cortisol can also cause inflammation, and inflammation is considered by many to be a leading cause of heart disease...

You can easily begin to see why cortisol, in excessive amounts, is considered a silent killer!

But how can you be sure?

The problem of adrenal fatigue, and the accompanying high levels of cortisol circulating throughout the body, is a MAJOR problem today!

But how can you be sure whether or not it’s YOUR problem?

Well, the most accurate method for determining this is a 4-point saliva test, measuring cortisol every 4 hours. Your levels should be high in the morning, dropping down through the midday, and low in the evening. You won’t be able to check for this pattern if you test cortisol only once.

Another thing you can do to get an indication is measure your resting heart rate while sitting calmly ... and then stand up, and immediately measure it again. If this raises your heartbeat by more than 10 beats per minute, it may be a sign that your adrenals are overworked.

But there’s another, more comprehensive way – a simple multi-point quiz you can take right at home to determine for yourself the likelihood that your adrenal glands need to recover and be “reset”.

The experts at Lifestyle Fitness have prepared this easy Adrenal Screening Quiz that they will send you at no charge.

It will help you determine whether your adrenal glands are being intermittently over-stimulated and exhausted … and then show you how to bring things back in line so you can enjoy a slimmer body (even without exercising!), regular good moods, a restful night’s sleep on a “normal” cycle, a strong s*x drive, and more.

Fortunately, there are MANY ways to calm and reset your adrenals, and reduce cortisol production. And the additional info’ that accompanies the Adrenal Screening Quiz gives you plenty of ideas for doing just that. (Thankfully, it’s not a case of having to do one or two specific things that you might not enjoy.)

This “silent killer” is easy to lock up and manage ... once you know it’s there, and take just a handful of corrective measures to prevent it ever “bustin’ loose” again.
