Two Democrats will compete in a special election Nov. 3 to represent parts of DeKalb and Rockdale counties in the Georgia House of Representatives. Doreen Carter, the president of the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce who ran for Georgia Secretary of State last year, will face Sherri Washington, a Conyers attorney who is active in several community organizations. The candidates for House District 92 are seeking to replace former Rep. Tonya Anderson, D-Lithonia, who is one of nine candidates running for a state Senate vacancy created when Gov. Nathan Deal appointed former Sen. Ronald Ramsey, D-Lithonia, to become a judge in DeKalb State Court’s Traffic Division.
