Mayonnaise is America's favorite sandwich spread and it is also used in a huge variety of recipes. However, it is next to impossible to find a commercial mayonnaise which does not contain soy and/or canola - two decidedly unhealthy items. Up to 90% of the soy and canola used in food products, including mayonnaise and just about all other grocery story salad dressings, is genetically modified. Hi Luella,

I have been making my own mayonnaise now for about 9 years. My doctor (chiropractor) told me to stay about from soy and canola oil because of my thyroid. Then find out that canola and soy are the worst oils to use for everyone. I just read article the other day that there are 5 oils that are not good to use.

palm
I guess it is because they are the cheap oils, and the most used oils. So it is back to the kitchen to make more of my own food.

STOP!!!   Actually the Truth behind SOY is a subject that the Mega Corporations are desperately trying and hope You will never, ever discover!!! Why, it's rather simple if You and Your Loved Ones knew the Truth, You would never again buy any Product that contains SOY. There is a so far Hidden "Silent Epidemic" of the Terrible Health Situations caused by SOY. The original Chinese character for soy depicts little roots at the bottom which revive the soil. This was the purpose of the noble SOY bean – the important task of fixing nitrogen in the soil during crop rotation to restore exhausted fields. This technique of using a bean crop to revitalize the soil is still a common practice today. The crop is grown, then rather than being harvested for consumption, it is dug back into the soil! Yet, Mega Corporations ignore this and feed this to us and our Families as a Positive Food Additive, yah right! Of all the beans, the SOY bean is plagued with the highest levels of phytic acid. Phytic acid Blocks the uptake of essential minerals, including calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and especially zinc. Soaking the beans prior to cooking usually neutralizes phytic acid in beans. Soy however seems highly resistant to phytate reducing techniques. It is only in fermentation that this is overcome and the beans become easy to digest. Soy foods also increase the body’s requirement for vitamin D and B12. The effect of these phytates in SOY-formulas is a great concern. The iron and zinc requirements of infants are well documented, particularly those that relate to cognitive function. There is also a link with diabetes with “twice as many SOY fed children developing diabetes as those in a control group that were breast fed or received milk based formula” SOY infant feeding is also linked to early puberty in girls and testosterone inhibition in males. On top of that it has been Proven that this playing around with the SOY Bean is causing Problems with the Lymphatic System(Your Bodies Trash Hauler) takes all the Junk out of Your Body so it seriously helps Your Body to Cleanse itself of potential problems! The most important SOY(Though all SOY should be Avoided)is any food product containing SOY Protein Isolate. Watch out for SOY milk powder, protein powder, products marketed as being low fat, SOY Baby formulas and SOY milk and SOY yoghurt. The term SOY Protein Isolate refers to the fact that the SOY Protein from the bean has been isolated from the carbohydrate and fatty acid components that naturally occur in the bean. To produce this, the SOY beans are ground and then undergo a high temperature and solvent extraction process to remove the oils. The defatted meal is then mixed with an alkaline solution and sugars in a separation process to remove fiber. Then it is precipitated and separated using an acid wash. Finally, the resultant curds are neutralized in an alkaline solution and spray dried at high temperatures to produce a high protein powder. This is a highly refined product in which not only has the vitamin and protein quality been compromised, but even after all that processing, it still contains some of the trypsin inhibitors. Also, nitrites, Potent Carcinogens, are formed during spray drying and a toxin called lysinoalanine is formed during the alkaline processing. It’s no surprise that SOY protein isolate Has Not Been Given USA Approval as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for human consumption. Does it make sense that a food so highly over processed could still maintain any semblance of wholesome nutrition? When nature is tampered with, there are usually unpleasant consequences. I came down with down with Esophageal Cancer because of what SOY did to my Body! It has been a long and rough Fight to come back to where Western Medicine Doctors are scratching their heads in Wonder because No One is supposed to Survive after 6 to 8 years! Not only am I surviving but rather then being a 64 year old I am looking and acting more like a 54 year old! Because I have Completely eliminated SOY; for the last 4 years and I have had Christians across Our Wonderful Country Praying for me, I have gone completely Vegetarian, have a Lymphatic Massage twice a week. So PLEASE, STOP Immediately for Your own sake and the Positive Health of Your Loved Ones throw any and All SOY containing products out of Your Life and Home!!! Sincerely, Brady C. Harness

Hi Luella May,

Thanks for the healthier mayonaise recipe. I've been trying to limit my fat and sodium and a Tbs. of Duke's has got 8 grams of Fat and 125 mg of Sodium.

I make my own mayonnaise too Myrna. Have for a long time. Mostly everything in the store is simply poison.

As for oils, you have to be so careful. None of those or vegetable oil.

The only thing I use is coconut oil, and even then I make sure it's organic.
