Conventionally grown apples soaked in pesticide banned in Europe

(Health Secrets) When you think of healthy foods, the apple is probably right at the top of your list, but new information suggests it’s time to reevaluate. Most of the conventionally grown apples sold in the U.S. these days have been treated with diphenylamine (DPA), a chemical pesticide that allows apples to lie in cold storage for up to a year before they are put out for sale at your local grocery store. The EU banned DPA in 2012, when manufacturers were unable to support claims of safety for the chemical. But in the U.S. it appears to be full steam ahead for the DPA treatment of apples, and pears too. Read More.
