(The Best Years in Life) Whether it's done out of frustration, anger or belief thatspare the rod and spoil the child is the best way to parent, spanking kids has negative outcomes. I agree on this but not a 100% because I have seen a lot of teenagers (my friends) who are used to there parents spanking them when they were still little some of them until now are so afraid of there parents. Some of them are rebel and some are good. I think it is a matter of choice. I know that it is a really hard decision to be good.

Good point. And, frankly, I don't totally agree with this article either. I guess sometimes spanking works (not to be confused with beating). However, Rule #1 in spanking. Never spank a child when you are angry. Cool down first.

Spanking can also result in anger issues and fear. Both not constructive emotions which can impact the rest of a child's life.

For example, I was spanked (well, bordered on abuse). So my reaction was fear and I grew up afraid of my parents. So with my own children I never spanked. Oh yes, there was discipline, which was quite effective, but at least some emotional issues were prevented.

Hey....... This looks like an excellent future topic for the radio.
