Mandela’s Prayer: Leaving the Prison of Our Own Prejudice

Rev Martha Quintana, Senior Minister

Rev Martha Quintana, Senior Minister

Freedom is the Heart of God. It is that Divine Spark that is constantly seeking Itself and It recreates Itself in everything everywhere. It is the Absolute Beauty of this world, the Absolute Abundance of the Universe, and the Absolute Truth of Everything Everywhere. It is All There Is.

And I am one with this absolute beauty, abundance, and truth. I am what it is and more. Freedom is that urge and desire I have to know God so completely and beautifully that it cannot be denied no matter where I go or what I do. I am all that it is. And as I know this truth for myself, I know this truth for Nelson Mandela. He is the absolute beauty, abundance, and truth of God and he is free now to meet his Creator face-to-face, free to live and love in the way he has always known.

I affirm and declare that Nelson Mandela’s work lives in the heart of the world, and is accomplished. Whatever racism, poverty, injustice, and limitation have existed, it falls away in the wake of unconditional love. No longer are any of us driven by prejudice or unlove. Each of us leaves the prison of our own hatred, bigotry, resentment, and uncaring. Each of us walks free and each time we become free, we free up the world. It is right.

And I give thanks for this knowing. I give thanks for Mandela and his beautiful example of courage and love. His bravery changed a nation and the world. His example lives on in the fabric of human consciousness and for that, I am so grateful. It is this gratitude that gives this prayer wings. It is done.

And so it is.

Amen.

Rev Martha Quintana is Senior Minister at the Rio Grande Center For Spiritual Living, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
