If you have a painting that means something special please share it here.

This is special to me.

The Dance Class - 1874

32 3/4 x 30 1/4 in. (83.2 x 76.8 cm)
Signed (lower left): Degas
Bequest of Mrs. Harry Payne Bingham, 1986 (1987.47.1)

I love the work of Degas.

His pastels are delicate and all of his ballet pictures are superb in their observation.

This oil painting is wonderful.

I hope that you agree?

Roger

The Halt in the Desert 1845

Richard Dadd

I am sorry that I have no larger image.

This painting by Richard Dadd was discovered via a TV show.

What a find?

I love the composition, the use of light, everything.

The Laughing Cavalier (1624) is a portrait by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals in the Wallace Collection in London, which has been described as "one of the most brilliant of all Baroque portraits".[1] The title is an invention of the Victorian public and press, dating from its exhibition in the opening display at the Bethnal Green Museum in 1872–75, just after its arrival in England, where it soon began to be regularly reproduced as prints, and was among of the best known old master paintings in Britain. The unknown subject is in fact not laughing, but can be said to have an enigmatic smile, much amplified by his upturned moustaches.
My mother had no great knowledge of art but loved this picture
