Try this healthy homemade sports drink to avoid summer dehydration (The Best Years in Life) For you guys and gals who are out in the heat doing whatever, here is a wonderful sports drink alternative you might want to try which replenishes sodium, potassium, and glucose, as well as fluids for hydration - without the sugar, artificial sweeteners, colors and other less than healthy ingredients found in commercial sports drinks. The molasses adds potassium and some glucose and other good stuff (make sure to use real molasses and not the syrup sold as molasses in some stores). Of course, the salt adds the sodium. Honey is just good for us, but adds some glucose too, without raising the glycemic index too much. The lemon is mainly for taste, but the vitamin C can't hurt.
