Prerov is a city situated on the Becva river. Its geographical location makes it intersection of ways and heart of Moravia in the Czech Republic. The locality settlement dates back to the primeval times. There is a world-renowned prehistoric site from the Older Stone Age on the mound called "Hradisko" (redoubt) at Prerov - Predmosti. The oldest written note on Prerov dates from 1131 and the King Premysl Otakar II. gave Prerov the privilege of a royal town in 1256. The Mansion of Prerov built in place of the former castle was a residence of influential houses - The House of Pernstein and Zerotin, from which Charles the Older of Zerotin significantly influenced the destinies of the town. Prerov is called by right "city of Comenius and Blahoslav" the most significant personalities of the Unity of Brethren as wellas of the Bohemian culture in the 16th and 17th centuries.
