'EYE FOR EYE'
11/30/2009 4:22:56 AM

The Code of Hammurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian law code of ancient Mesopotamia, dating back to about 1754 BC. The code consists of 282 laws, with scaled punishments, adjusting "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" "An eye for an eye", or the law of retaliation, is the principle that a person who has injured another person is to be penalized to a similar degree,

Jesus Christ said,

"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'

But I tell you, "Do not resist an evil person."

(Matthew 5:38; Exodus 21:24; Lev. 24:20; Deut. 19:21).

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. (Romans 12:17).

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath,

for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. (Romans 12:19).
