MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE
9/17/2009 2:08:54 PM

A miscarriage of justice results from error(s)

made by the court during trial. And as a result,

an innocent person may be convicted and punished.

THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT OF MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas,

the high priest, where the teachers of the law

and the elders had assembled. (Matthew 26:57).

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin

were looking for false evidence against Jesus

so that they could put him to death. (Matthew 26:59).

But they did
not find any,
though many false witnesses

came forward. (Matthew 26:60).

JESUS' TRIAL BEFORE THE GOVERNOR

Thereafter, Jesus was taken before the governor, Pilate.

(Matthew 27:11).

NO EVIDENCE AGAINST JESUS

"Why? what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.

(Matthew 27:22).

But the crowd shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

(Matthew 27:23).

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere,

but that instead an uproar was starting,

he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd.

"I am innocent of this man's blood," he said.

"It is your responsibility!" (Matthew 27:24).

All the people answered,"Let his blood be on us....!"

(Matthew 27:25).

JESUS WAS WRONGFULLY CONVICTED

and handed him over to be crucified. (Matthew 27:26).
