FBI Warns of Email Scam.
11/23/2005 10:19:42 AM
Hi Everyone. This Scam warning is primarily for Americans, but other countries may be involved.

Washington-The Federal Bureau of Investigation issued an alert Monday about a scam involving unsolicited e-mails, purportedly sent by the FBI, that tell computer users that their Internet surfing is being monitored by the Agency.

The users are told they have visited illegal Web sites and are instructed to open an attachment to answer questions. The FBI did not send these e-mails and does not send any unsolicated e-mails to the public, an Agency statement said.

"As many harmful computer viruses are located in e-mail attachments, the FBI said it strongly encourages computer users not to open attachments from unknown recipients".

The FBI is investigating the scam. Recipients of these e-mails are asked to report them by visiting the Internet Crime Complaint Center at.

This warning was sent out by the Associated Press.

So, be careful everyone, if you receive this, or any other emails purporting to be from the FBI, CIA or other goverment bodies, do not open them or any attachments, you now know where to report them too!

Thank you so much Anthony, for giving us the heads up on this. I didn't receive any of these yet but I did get another one earlier this week that had the subject line 'Password confirmation'. Good thing I got up to date virus protection or I would not be able to write you now. The attachement in it carried a non curable virus I didn't know where to send it to, but thanks to you, now I do. I've got it bookmarked. Thanks again. Love n light, Doris
