An Inspirational Message From Erma Bombeck
9/13/2005 5:17:21 PM
Hello To All My AdlandPro Friends & Family, I had to come and post another forum today after receiving this email from a good friend of mine! I loved Erma Bombeck and all her books...she was an excellent writer,a very funny lady, and a wonderful person! -------------------------------------------- PURPLE HATS In honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer. Here is an angel sent to watch over you. Pass this on to five women that you want watched over. If you don't know five women to pass this on to, one will do just fine. IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck (written after she found out she was dying from cancer). I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life. I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's." But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it . live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff. Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us. Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally. I hope you all have a blessed day. -------------------------------------------- I pray that God watches over Erma and gives her grace and mercy! I pray that all her friends, family, and people all over the world that loved her as an author, will be comforted through God's love and faith! This is a sad day for me knowing this lovely woman had passed away and gone home to the Lord! I am happy though that her suffering is over with! I have always enjoyed reading her books and learning from her life's lessons! May Erma Bombeck rest in peace! God Bless Everyone! Marilyn L. Ali

Hi Marilyn, Ooops, I stumbled into the Ladies forum by mistake! No, wait a minute. Except for the pregnancy bit, everything she wrote could apply equally to the weaker sex (that would be us men). I, too, cherish the writing of Erma Bombeck. While she may have left this physical earth, she will always live on through her extraordinary outlook on life and her ability to write about it so poignantly. Bill Dugan

That was very nice Marilyn, Thank you for sharing it with us!! I loved to read Erma's books they were so full of humorous wisdom! But I am not sad she left us because I know she goes to a much better place where no sickness or pain is allowed, disappointment and heartbreak are given the boot and sadness and evil are shown to the door! I thank God for his kingdom and the joy that reigns there! If everyone thought New Orleans was a party city they are mistaken they have yet to see the real party place and it goes on 24/7, 356 forever and ever and ever with no end!! As Always, God Bless!! Sincerly, Susan
