I Would Have Been a Missionary
By Rev Dean Beaty 8/4/09
A missionary I would be across the wide blue seas.
But alas, my doctor says that I have allergies.
I long to speak of God’s great love to aborigines.
But just the thought of tall wild grass and I begin to sneeze.
If I could speak in Swahili, I’d tell them of God’s grace,
And how Christ died to save the souls of every human race.
But English was my worst subject, my grammar’s a disgrace.
So without knowing Portuguese I’m stuck here in this place.
But how I long to speak of God to those who do not know.
Just like Amy Carmichael, the word of God I’d sow.
God did so much to save my soul, my all to Him I owe.
But alas I am too old, it’s a shame I cannot go.
I guess I missed my only chance to help folk lost in sin.
I would have preached to natives for I love their darkened skin.
Since there’s nothing I can do to win those not my kin,
I guess it’s up to someone else, the lost of earth to win.

Not all are called to go but all are called to Show others of Christ the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.
Show Christ as a Sunday School teacher, maybe by being that good neighbor, Whatever God's call on our lives, let our answer be.
"Here am I Lord, Send Me."
