A Gang of Fifty Rats
By Rev. Dean Beaty 8/9/09
On a farm lived fifty rats.
They bit the kids and chased the cats.
The Hairy one whose name was Reed,
Made all obey what he decreed.
The folk who owned this backward farm,
Soon saw their error with great alarm.
The rats made laws for other folk,
But not for them; now there’s a joke.
The rats became so arrogant,
That they refused to hear dissent.
Their lists of laws were not for them.
They saw themselves the Crème Del Crème.
Although their crimes were to the brim,
They voted each rat a diadem.
The rats believed that they were kings.
This is the result that power brings.
We fought one war to rid us of kings.
It’s time these rats too felt our stings
So, get rid of all rats that oversee.
Return us to the Land of the Free.
