What About MY Solo?
By Rev. Dean Beaty 8/18/09
James 4:6 “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (KJV)
I’ll gladly sing a solo when my turn comes around.
But on any other Sunday I may be out of town.
The pastor, deacons, teachers must always take their place.
But until I sing a solo you may not see my face.
The choir has many members, I’m sure I won’t be missed.
But when it comes to solos, put me high upon the list.
Because of my great talent, I’m often given praise.
It really lifts my spirits and lasts for many days.
But what about the times when you’re not in the light?
Are you faithful to your place, fighting the good fight?
Are you looking for attention? Is that why you perform?
Is that why you are eager to be on the platform?
A meek and humble spirit is what the Lord will bless.
Turning hearts to Jesus is the spirit to possess.
If Christ is who they see, that’s what counts with God.
Seek God’s approval, not hearing men applaud.
