The Gift of Finding Fault
By Rev Dean Beaty 8/189/09
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”(KJV)
Finding fault in other folk is not that hard to do.
For generally speaking; they are a lot like you.
They put their pants on just like you; just one leg at a time.
They’re not perfect nor are we. Is that fact such a crime?
The thing they really need the most is for us to come along,
To point out every time and place of where they have gone wrong.
How else will they then e’er become perfect in every way?
If I don’t take my valued time to point out when they stray?
But in the Bible I don’t find the gift of criticism.
Yet o’er and o’er it tells us that it brings about a schism.
Now there’s a word we don’t hear much. I’ll tell you what it means;
It means, divide or tear apart. It’s in some people’s genes.
But there’s a cure for finding fault. It takes long hours in prayer;
In asking God to help and guide that one with our same cares.
Then ask the Lord to make it clear just where we’ve gone astray.
Then we will grow more tolerant and patient day by day.
