SO LITTLE MIGHT
By Rev. Dean Beaty 6/5/09
Luke 21:1-4 “And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he
said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of
her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.” (KJV)
I have so very little that I can give to God.
I tried to preach a sermon but I only hemmed and hawed.
My talents are so meager they almost don’t exist.
If I wrote them down they would not make a list.
So what am I to do as a soldier for my King?
When they take an offering there’s not much I can bring.
What will be the answer to the question from my Lord?
“What’s listed on your page for the sum of your reward?”
Then I read Christ’s sermon about the widow’s mite.
He was sympathetic to her lowly wretched plight.
He observed her in the temple as she gave all that she could.
Christ knew that she had given all of her livelihood.
She did not give a part but all that she possessed.
And the little that she gave was more than all the rest.
What we have may be meager, our talents may be small.
But God will judge us faithful if we give to Him our all.
“Lord take my little offering of talent, tithe and time,
Even if it’s only, my feeble words that rhyme.
Use me for Thy purpose. I give to you my crumb.
May Christ get all the glory until His Kingdom come.”
