INDEPENDENCE DAY
By Rev. Dean Beaty 6/30/09
Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath
anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to
them that are bound;” (KJV)
The Fourth is quickly approaching, with our independence day;
Do we really give much thought to what others had to pay?
To bring about our nation and the freedom we have here,
From Minute Men to pioneers who expanded our frontier.
They gave their lives in sacrifice to achieve their mighty dream.
By it they built a nation that to others is supreme.
They gave us the Constitution and the mighty Bill of Rights.
That makes our nation stand out like a million neon lights.
But some seek its destruction and they live here on this soil.
To our nation’s heritage these men are just not loyal.
Their tax and spend agenda will enslave the common man.
Enslavement is their purpose and bondage is their plan.
Will we be passive people or be rallied to the fight?
With God and Truth on our side we can keep our future bright.
The enemy is not weak and their numbers are not small.
With sacrifice bound to courage our country will not fall.
Our fathers died for freedom, which now some seek to quell.
The liberty to speak out was theirs and ours as well.
But if we sit by silently without a warning cry,
The freedom that men died for will merely pass us by.
