Life's Experiences

Life's Experiences

We all have them. How have yours affected you? For My Best Life I have to choose how to respond to the things that are in my past, present and future. So do you. We can allow things in our past to affect the way that we respond to the here and now.  Without experiences we could be completely gullible but bad experiences could cause us to become hardened and too mistrustful of people.

In my life there have been people  who built me up. There have also been  people who tore me down. I have been betrayed by those whom I thought were my friends. I lost a son who was almost 19 years old. I was thrown from a car as it tumbled end over end onto a creek bank. I had to learn how to be supportive when my husband told me that he was no longer physically able to do his work. When he got his retirement savings most of it was lost in a scam that we thought was a business that he could work at from home.

Despair

My life was put on hold when my parents needed extra care during their last days on earth. I have laughed, and cried. I have been on top of the mountain and in the depths of despair. I have had to make choices and not always made the best ones.  What does all this mean? It simply means that I have lived and survived my life's experiences up to this point.

Am I afraid of what this day holds? No, because I know who holds this day. My life experiences have taught me that no matter what I may have to go through....I am not alone. Someone is there to lift me up and carry me through. When my time on earth is done I know that I have a home in heaven waiting for me. So whether I live or I die, I know that the one who made heaven and earth is with me and will never leave nor forsake me.

What about today? Should I just sit back and do nothing? Far from it. I live by the principle that my life is a gift from God and what I do with it reflects what I give back to him.Whatever it is that I do, I must do my best.  I am responsible  with how I respond to the opportunities that come my way. I am responsible for the attitude that I project. I am responsible for the choices I make that reflect whether I live in integrity or not. I am responsible for whether I work hard or not at all. I am responsible for whether I choose to forgive those who may have cheated me in some way. I am responsible for this day and I do choose to be forgiving and look forward and not back. When I do look back it is to learn from the mistakes of my own or of others, not to blame. It also is to remember the good times and the wonderful people who are no longer with me.

Tomorrow will be a brand new day with lots of opportunity. I hope to be able to take hold of it with wisdom and discernment. I hope to be a help to others.

I talk about living My Best Life. That includes taking care of all the aspects that makes up our lives. If we neglect the physical, then our health will suffer, If we neglect our emotional health, that also affects  our physical. If we neglect our financial health then the stress of that affects our emotional and physical health.  If we neglect the spiritual, then no matter how successful we are in every other area, there will be an empty void that we just can't fill. Our happiness depends on taking care of all these and taking responsiblity for ourselves and not blaming others. Then we can say whether rich or poor, we have learned how to be content and are living our best life.
