Who is Changed By Our Prayers?
By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/6/09
Luke 22:42 “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup
from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (KJV)
Think of your prayers as a very strong rope.
The prayers that you bring are for that which you hope.
The prayers of your rope are attached to God’s throne.
You strain on the rope, your desire to make known.
Then the harder you pray, hoping they’ll be approved,
To your utter amazement, it’s you that’s been moved.
Your prayers have not moved God’s heavenly throne.
But the purpose of God is now more your own.
For prayer is not changing the will of the Lord,
It’s bringing our will to match His in accord.
The more that we meet with our Father in prayer,
The more of His mind and His will that we share.
Our prayer should be, “Father, what have you willed?
Help me to know it, that it might be fulfilled.”
Our prayer rope that’s tethered to God’s Holy throne,
Is to draw us to God that His will might be known.
