EASTER MORNING QUESTION By Rev. Dean Beaty 4/12/09 I Corinthians 15:17-20 “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”(KJV)
I woke up Easter morning with the question in my head. What if Christ my Savior had never risen from the dead? There would be no reason then to worship on this day, If He, like all the rest of men, had merely passed away.
There would be no hope in me of new life after this. No eternal Heaven and for sure no home of bliss. Also no reunion with my friends who’ve gone before. There would be no Living Lord to open Heaven’s door.
Satan may have thought at first that he had won the day. But three days in the tomb and the stone was rolled away. Death could never seal the grave where Jesus lay within. He’s the King of Glory and eternal life’s in Him.
This is why we celebrate with happy joyous song. We’re looking for His soon return which can’t be very long. He said, “And if I go away I will come again.” Have you trusted in the Living Lord to wash away your sin?
