In only two weeks, on Sunday, March 22nd, we're celebrating World Water Day 2009. This year marks the 16th international day of observance and action to draw attention to the role that water plays in our world and lives.

Will you, your class, or group join us in celebrating this ever important day?

Whether you have five minutes or a little more time, we challenge you to take action. Each action you take is one step forward in achieving a world where everyone can take a safe drink of water.

Five ways you can get involved:

1. Plan An Event, Big or Small - Get involved and mark this important day with songs, drawings, or ideas like a water walk or donating your coffee, juice or soda money. Hold a water-only party to understand how much clean water affects our daily lives. Take a moment of silence in honor of the 1.1 billion people without access to water.

2. Learn More at KnowH2O - Visit KnowH2O.org to watch new videos, view our water maps, read stories, and find links to online water education resources. Visit our KnowH2O's Water Lesson Plans page to get your ideas flowing.

3. Take a pledge to be water friendly - Will you turn off the water when you brush your teeth, or take shorter showers? Make a pledge to reduce your personal, school's, organization's, or family's water footprint.

4. Take Our Water Quiz - Thousands of people have taken our online water quiz, have you? Even if you think you KnowH2O, take this quiz to see how much you know about global water issues. You can even download a badge for your blog or site.

5. Sponsor a Pump - Become a Water Hero! Make a difference for children and a community in sub-Saharan Africa and create your own KnowH2O fundraising page. If you raise enough money for a PlayPump, not only will your pump have a plaque with your name, class, church, or group, but we will send you one of our handmade wire models.
